A Passion for Material Mastery
Velvet Sky Realm was founded by two longtime friends who shared a singular obsession: the pursuit of extraordinary sleep. After years working in Tokyo's luxury hospitality sector — one as an interior designer, the other as a textile buyer — they set out to create a curated atelier where quality was never compromised.
Our first collection launched in 2018 with just six products: all sourced directly from master weavers in Imabari, Kyoto, and Egypt. Today, our range spans 42 products across bedding, pillows, blankets, and bath textiles — every item held to the same exacting standard.
We remain proudly independent, operating from our Shinjuku showroom where customers are invited to experience the full collection by touch, texture, and feel before they buy.

How We Work
Our Design & Sourcing Process
Every product in the Velvet Sky Realm collection goes through a rigorous, multi-stage development process that can take between 3 to 12 months from concept to launch.
- Research Phase: Our team travels to textile mills, mills, and artisan workshops globally, evaluating raw materials and production methods against our exacting standards.
- Sourcing & Testing: Once a potential partner is identified, we commission sample batches that are tested in our showroom for comfort, durability, and aesthetic alignment over a 30–90-day trial period.
- Sustainability Audit: All production facilities undergo a comprehensive audit covering labor practices, environmental impact, and OEKO-TEX certification.
- Design Refinement: Based on feedback and testing, we may request modifications to color, weight, weave, or finish to meet our exact specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Every batch of products receives 100% inspection upon arrival, with samples set aside for ongoing testing over their first year in our collection.
- Ongoing Relationship: We maintain direct relationships with all suppliers, conducting annual re-audits and staying aligned on continuous improvement and innovation.

Founded 1952. Specialists in high-count Egyptian cotton and hybrid blends. Supply 40% of our core bedding collection. Known for precision weaving and consistent quality control.
Kyoto Heritage Mills (Japan)
Established 1890s. Masters of natural dyes and sustainable production methods. Create our signature velvet throw pillows and sustainable linen products. Small-batch, artisanal production.
Egyptian Premium Cotton Co. (Egypt)
Located in the Nile Delta. Cultivate and process 800–1200 thread-count cotton exclusively. Provide the finest raw materials for our luxury sheet sets. Fair-trade certified since 2015.
Mulhouse Textile Designers (France)

Multi-generational family workshops producing hand-dyed silk duvet covers and decorative textiles. Each piece takes 30–40 hours of handwork. Limited annual production.
